Welcome!

Welcome to the page for my GameDev.tv Game Jam 2024 submission, this project was completed solo over the space of 10 days as a challenge for this event. As I had partook in sections of a single blender course, I decided to put the limited skills learnt in that course to the test on top of my expanded knowledge from the year that has passed since the last gdev.tv jam. A particular area of interest I wanted to gain an understanding of was a modular loot system, similar to that found in Borderlands 2, so during this project my focus from a technical perspective was to create my own loot system inspired by that game, and is present inside this project.

If you spot any bugs, especially game breaking, please let me know in the comments of this entry, I'll strive to fix the bugs as soon as they are spotted so users can have an enjoyable experience with my entry.

All feedback is more than welcome and the time taken to provide feedback is very much appreciated.

Warnings:

This game may require Hardware Acceleration to be enabled on your browser for a stable experience.  (Tested game on OperaGX and Chrome)

Higher Difficulties contain more enemies and may effect performance on certain machines, particularly on web build.

Visual effects for loot drops differ across builds, WebGL does not support VFX Graph, so I created 2 individual loot effects to suit each build.

Necrofear: Apocalypse

Story:

After a Necromancer failed to perform a spell, raising the undead to create his army, he instead consumed his own soul and created an undead apocalypse. Pitted against endless nights and seemingly endless hordes of undead, many cities were wiped out. No sign of life across the land, and very little supplies left, can you help your village make a strong Last Stand against the undead armies ravaging the world. Or will your village fall, along with all the hopes of what is left of Civilisation?

Controls:

WASD - Move

Mouse - Look

LMB - Attack

E - Interact

Q - Pause / Equipment Menu

Gameplay:

Necrofear: Apocalypse follows a relatively simple gameplay loop; Take on the hordes of undead to loot better equipment, in order to challenge the higher difficulty hordes... Find a weapon that suits you amongst the modular, and randomly generated weapons, and see if you can succeed against the hordes of Brutal difficulty, a challenge only for the bravest.
